Understanding your DryBuddy's status lights

Active

Drying in Progress

Device is performing a dry cycle. Auto-shuts off after 20 hours. Typical cycle ~6 hours (varies by load).

Complete

Drying Complete

Green LED remains on for 4 hours once drying is finished, then both LEDs turn off. Remove your devices.

Standby

Idle (Deep Sleep)

Device is powered but inactive. Slide switch OFF to fully power down and save CR2032 battery life.

Regen Required

Reactivation Needed

Electronic Rice beads are saturated. Perform reactivation using the USB-C sleeve (see Care Guide tab).

Regenerating

Reactivation in Progress

Beads are regenerating in sleeve. Process takes 2.5 hours—allow to complete fully.

Regen Done

Reactivation Complete

Beads are refreshed and ready. Allow sleeve to cool for 10 minutes before reinstalling.

Troubleshooting Guide

Quick solutions to common issues

Device won't power on for drying

Possible Cause

Dead or missing battery

Solution

Install fresh CR2032 coin cell battery (check polarity)

💡

No LEDs light up

Possible Cause

  • Battery drained
  • Faulty power switch or LED circuit

Solution

  • Replace CR2032 battery
  • Power-cycle switch (OFF → ON)
  • If still dark, contact Support@redux.com
⚠️

Sensor fault (solid green & solid red)

Possible Cause

Device stuck in error state

Solution

  • Power OFF, wait 10 seconds, then power ON
  • If not resolved, contact Support@redux.com
🔌

USB-C power issues during reactivation

Possible Cause

Cable or adapter incompatible or damaged

Solution

  • Use only supplied USB-C cable and 5V 500mA adapter
  • Avoid multi-voltage smart adapters; use fixed 5V adapter

Reactivation Instructions

When you see a solid red light, follow these steps to regenerate the desiccant beads

DryBUDDY is Pre-Activated at the Factory

Your DryBUDDY comes fully pre-activated and ready for immediate use right out of the box. The Electronic Rice beads are already charged and at maximum drying power for your first cycle.

Important: Opening DryBUDDY before you're ready to use it will expose the beads to ambient moisture, reducing first-use drying power. Keep the device sealed until needed.

If you've already opened DryBUDDY early, don't worry—performing a reactivation cycle (instructions below) will restore the beads to full performance.

1

Power Off

Slide the power switch to OFF position.

2

Connect Power

Plug the supplied USB-C cable into the DryBuddy USB-C port and a 5V-500mA USB power adapter or USB outlet.

3

Insert Reactivation Sleeve

Slide the included reactivation sleeve fully onto the DryBuddy housing. The sleeve contains a built-in heating element powered by the USB-C connection that heats the beads to release absorbed moisture. When properly inserted, the reactivation process begins automatically.

4

Wait for Completion

The red LED will blink (1s on / 1s off). When the red LED turns OFF and the green LED turns ON (solid), reactivation is complete.

5

Cool Down

Unplug power and allow the sleeve and beads to cool for 10 minutes before use.

Important: Some USB power adapters that support multiple voltages (e.g., "fast chargers" or USB Power Delivery/PD) may not initiate reactivation. DryBuddy does not communicate with smart adapters, so they may fail to supply power. Use a fixed 5V adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DryBuddy care

No. DryBUDDY is pre-activated at the factory and ready for immediate use right out of the box. The Electronic Rice beads are already charged to maximum drying power for your first cycle, and the CR2032 battery is pre-installed. Simply power on the device and you're ready to go.

Opening DryBUDDY early exposes the pre-activated Electronic Rice beads to ambient moisture, which reduces their first-cycle drying power. If the beads appear dark in color or a solid red LED appears when powered on, the beads have absorbed moisture and need reactivation. This doesn't damage the device—just perform a reactivation cycle to restore full performance.

Yes. Reactivation completely restores the Electronic Rice beads to maximum drying power, regardless of whether they were weakened by early opening or normal use. The reactivation sleeve heats the beads to release all absorbed moisture, returning them to factory-fresh condition. After cooling, the device will perform exactly as it did when new.

Store DryBuddy in a sealed Mylar pouch in a dry location when not in use. This keeps the Electronic Rice beads from absorbing ambient moisture.

Reactivation frequency depends on usage and humidity levels. The solid red LED will indicate when reactivation is needed. Typically, users reactivate every 2-4 weeks with regular use.

No. Use only a fixed 5V adapter. Smart chargers with USB Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge may not supply power because DryBuddy doesn't communicate with intelligent adapters.
